Actions you can take to Stop Divorce Before it Happens
August 28th, 2011Your world has just shattered around you, and you did not even see it coming. No way did you imagine that your spouse of so many years would ask you for a divorce. You had considered that your marriage was strong and lasting, yet apparently your partner felt very differently. Given that the decree has been given, should you just lay down and roll over and allow it to take place? If you are committed to the success of your marriage, even though your spouse isn’t, there are things you should and shouldn’t do to stop divorce from occurring.
Reasoning and pleading isn’t going to make a bit of difference in the stance your partner is taking. Instead, you should work at things more subtly. Never wear any false front. Behave like yourself that will help remind your partner why they fell deeply in love with you to start with. You also need to listen to your partner to see if you can get hints as to what he or she is needing that they don’t feel they are having from your marriage. You can not offer them what they want until you recognize what it is, and when things get bad among two people, your own hurt feelings may get in the way of you listening to what they are actually saying.
Insisting that your spouse go to marital counseling is not the best tactic. In so doing, you are only going to set them off again through insinuating that they need a counselor. Maintain your lines of communication open, and look for things you may change. After all, something in the marriage must be broken if your spouse desires to take the critical move of divorce, so if you can find and restore it, your marriage stands a far greater chance of surviving.
Needless to say, there might be another individual in the picture who has convinced your partner that they have more to offer than you do. Remember that the honeymoon period will wear off in that relationship, too. If you really want to prevent divorce from occurring, you have to be able to ride out the storm and get some assistance from a marriage coach offering free marriage advice. Everything depends upon how much you are ready to do to prevent your marriage from ending in divorce. Doc No.sdlkh-sdAE
